Our defining statement "Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time" appears on every page of our site and it says it all. The Alameda West Kiwanis Club has been living this mission since its founding in 1966 - both with globally- and locally-focused projects.
And we've had a great deal of fun doing it! We get as much as we give, making life-long friends along the way.
Help us Eliminate Maternal/Neonatal Tetanus!!!!
Our club is a Charity Partner of the Colfax Marathon to be held May 18-19, 2013, raising funds for The Eliminate Project. Eliminate is a joint effort of Kiwanis International and UNICEF dedicated to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus (MNT) from the world. MNT is a preventable tragedy! Each year, nearly 60,000 babies die (along with far too many mothers) when for only $1.80 each, lives could be saved with vaccinations and education. What can you do to help? If you're a runner, register with the Colfax Marathon and select the Alameda West Kiwanis Eliminate Project to run for. Then become a fundraiser or make a donation by going to our fundraising page at:
